The South of Southern region of West Palm Beach is set to welcome an exciting new restaurant in mid-September: Pixie On Dixie (or Pixies for short). Led by Field of Greens co-owner Hess Musallet, who seized the opportunity to acquire The SoSo café from its former owners, the much-anticipated opening brings chef Cesar Brea and Kye Akavia to create a counter-service dining experience with healthy and nutritious cuisine for all.

West Palm Beach’s trend-setting South of Southern neighborhood proudly greets a restaurant that brings the familiar and the new. Pixie on Dixie — or Pixies for short — is set to open in mid-September, offering a counter-service casual dining experience focusing on healthy and nutritious food that everyone can enjoy. The menu will feature favorites from Field of Greens and some of the top-selling dishes from The SoSo café, made possible by hiring former executive chef Cesar Brea and co-owner Kye Akavia.

Seizing an Opportunity

Hess Musallet saw potential in The SoSo restaurant and was delighted when he heard they were closing. He seized the opportunity to purchase the restaurant, taking advantage of an offer he couldn’t refuse. As a loyal customer, Musallet was already familiar with his favorites: The Mediterranean salad bowl and chicken empanadas, making the transition to owner seamless.

Hess Musallet, the proud co-owner of Field of Greens, had been a loyal customer of The SoSo restaurant and always saw potential in the space. He was delighted when he heard they were closing and seized the opportunity to purchase the restaurant, as he was presented with an offer he couldn’t refuse. Musallet enjoyed his regular favorites: The Mediterranean salad bowl and chicken empanadas, making the transition to owner seamless.

Following the picnic-table meeting with Musallet, The SoSo owners felt re-invigorated and confident in their new venture. Akavia, who grew up in the SoSo neighborhood, described the meeting as a “silver lining,” with both parties sharing similar visions for the restaurant.

Taking Advantage of a Turnkey Condition

Musallet is enthusiastic about his new restaurant, Pixies, which takes its name from a sweet mandarin orange variety. He observed that the South of Southern neighborhood had a big void for fine-casual restaurants and was excited to take advantage of the turnkey condition the DiSchino family’s space offered. Musallet believes Pixies is the perfect fit for the area and is making “small, aesthetic” tweaks to the sunny space to ensure its success.

Pixie on Dixie is set to usher in a new era of dining for those in the South of Southern neighborhood in West Palm Beach.
